You Need to Create a Domain Portfolio
Although domain names may appear as a steal to you (or expensive), at between $5 and $10 each, now is the time to grow your portfolio. Many of the top Internet “superstars,” if you idolize them, have portfolios with upwards of a thousand domains, meaning that they’ve spent thousands to purchase them. However, there are many benefits to owning these domains (whether or not they are attached to a hosting account).
First of all, each domain continues to increase in value, no matter what you do with it, although it would be better if, at the very least, it is indexed by search engines, so as long as it is linked to by another site or has content placed on it, you should be set.
Secondly, people who may be interested in buying domains may look into purchasing some of the domains that you have, meaning you can sell them at a profit of upwards of ten times what you originally paid for it. The cheapest domains generally get on marketplaces is $100, so you shouldn’t go much lower than this, unless it isn’t a good domain.
If you are interested in building sites/blogs, then it may be time to look into purchasing multiple domains at a time to pursue this activity. While the general economy may be going down, domain values have never been higher.
There are additional tips on how to manage and purchase domain names correctly, but I’ll save that for another post.
