Why You Should ‘Follow’ People on Twitter

Published by blogtips at 7:24 pm under Tools/Services Edit This

Micro-blogging, roughly translated to “small” or “lacking capability,” the service has grown to be extremely popular. Now, more than ever before, it is ideal to become a member of the system and leverage the power of it to extend the reach of your blog.

To Follow: When you follow someone, you are essentially letting them know that you are interested in the thoughts and comments that they are posting. Whether or not you have chosen to follow someone that provides tips or is simple linking to other sites, that is all up to you.

Even though the profile pages of the people you decide to follow might not be that interesting or useful, it is a good idea to communicate with people who are in your niche, in your market, and may be interested in viewing your blog for more reasons than one.

There have been countless success stories with Twitter, from large corporations gaining millions of dollars in sales to individuals being able to essentially create “fortunes” from using the system to market their websites, products, or themselves, for that matter.

Choosing not to use the system now and not using it properly are two different things. The people that you follow could give you knowledge that you wouldn’t gain anywhere else, and through your profile you are sharing that insight with others. In addition, people who may never have seen your blog before, but author blogs that you love could trade the favor, and subscribe to your blog or even place advertising on it.

All in all, it appears to be a win-win situation for all parties at this time. Some will say that Twitter is a waste of time, others are having a hard time grasping the concept of it, while others are utilizing it incorrectly. However you choose to use it, make sure that you use it well, and don’t forget to “follow” the people that you have an interest in.
