Responding to People on Twitter

While we’re still on the subject of Twitter - well, specifically three posts ago - you should be responding to “tweets” that have been directed at you.

The popular micro-blogging service is a prominent part (or at least began) of the blogging ’sphere and cannot be avoided when promoting a product, service, or idea. Think about the service for a minute like email, chat, or comments on a blog. All three have one core element - response.

A prominent problem of Twitter is that you might have so many followers that it is hard to respond to them all and any replies could be lost amongst others, especially if you haven’t logged in or spent some time using the service in quite some time.

The problem is more than not just answering others’ questions. It leads some people to tell others that you aren’t responding and the trickle effect continues to go down the line. You should be responding to all questions directed at you and any conversations that are brought up.

By not responding to people who may have been your first followers is like saying that you are purposely avoiding them and trying to prevent any communication - why are you even using Twitter or the Internet, for that matter?

In developing your blog, create a separate Twitter account for your blog and make sure that you address all questions and comments, even if they are as simple as saying that they like your content - thank them, in this case.

Even though these were just a few basic tips, keep them in mind when interacting with others and taking part in social media sites.
