An Introduction into Affiliate Marketing

Published by blogtips at 11:43 pm under Advertising Edit This

Affiliate marketing can be defined as “an Internet-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate’s marketing efforts.”

Nearly since the dawn of the Internet, these advertising companies have sought after people to advertise their services for a return. Bloggers have filled some of the gaps from people who left the market with the collapse of the market in the late-90s and early-2000s and the market is still string - people are still buying “stuff” and people need to find the best deals on these products.

If you use WordPress or other powerful content management systems, you’ll find that it is quite easy to generate some income through this method.

While on tis subject, I’d like to say that while affiliate marketing is generally frowned-upon as a “legitimate” way of earning money, it is quite profitable when you know what you are doing, and can lead to even more benefits down the road.

Here are some popular ways of promoting products:

- Search engines through PPC methods using keywords.
- Comparison shopping websites and directories.
- Loyalty websites, using rewards systems.
- Coupon and rebate websites, focusing on sales promotions.
- Content and niche market websites, including review sites.
- Personal websites, and weblogs and syndication feeds.
- Email and affiliate lists.
- Shopping directories.
- Cost per action networks.

Blogs can place links, banners, and utilize several of the methods listed above through a single domain, including promotion through search engines, especially if you have purchased your own domain and hosting account.

Again, affiliate marketing isn’t for everyone, but should be approached if you aren’t making much money through contextual and private advertising programs. let me know in the comments section below on your thoughts about affiliate marketing and whether you’ve explored this venue.
